Missions & Outreach
The LORD has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what
does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love
kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”
~ Micah 6:8 ~
Our Mission
The Missions and Outreach Ministry of The Congregation at Duke
Chapel assists, directs, and encourages our members to use
our resources of prayer, time, talents, money, and influence
to aid others who are in need of prayer, fellowship, food,
or shelter. We seek to reflect God’s grace in Jesus
Christ to those we encounter in need. Our hope is that our
ministry efforts will foster reconciling relationships with
individuals, communities, and God.
How We Accomplish Our Mission
The Missions and Outreach Ministry was organized in 1985 to
provide opportunities for members of The Congregation to assist
people in the Durham area who are in need of food, shelter,
and support during a difficult time in their life. Over the
years the program expanded in response to growing needs within
the local, national, and world communities.
The Missions and Outreach Ministry is organized into five teams:
• Local Missions
• World Missions
• Student Outreach
• Special Initiatives
• Prayer Ministry
This structure is designed to help members of The Congregation
identify the available opportunities for service that match
their gifts and interests. We invite you to explore the Missions
and Outreach Ministry’s web pages to find the ministry
that is right for you.
